Welcome Back to Southlands Elementary

On behalf of the Parent Advisory Council, a very special welcome to all of the new families joining Southlands Elementary, and welcome back to all families returning to school. We hope you all had a great summer!

As a parent or guardian of a student attending Southlands, you are a valued member of our Parent Advisory Council (PAC). There are so many exciting things going on at our school and we look forward to having you as part of our school community.

One of the best things about being a part of this community is all of the fun events and activities for kids and parents to enjoy. We have a broad range of activities planned for this year as well -- all are great ways to meet other parents and many of these activities raise much needed funds for the school. We hope that you can join our team in whatever ways that best fit your family’s schedules and interests. In addition to raising and overseeing the spending of funds, we also advocate on behalf of our school community.

Southlands PAC is also a great source of information for what’s going on at the school. There are a number of ways to stay in touch:

• Sign up to receive weekly email updates – just provide your email address using this link as we do not receive contact details from the school office.
• Follow this blog. All email updates are archived here, as are forms and PAC minutes. 
• Follow the PAC on Facebook
• Check your child’s backpack. Forms are sent home in hard copy and most can also be found on the blog in case you need an extra copy.
• Attend monthly PAC Meetings - all parents and guardians are welcome. Meetings take place on the second Wednesday of the month from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Southlands library. Childminding is provided as well.

We also welcome your feedback, questions and ideas! There are always members of the Executive PAC team hanging around the playground after school as well, so please feel free to say hi and share your thoughts.
